In preparation for the 23-24 season, one of our first tasks was to create a pocket schedule. This physical item was distributed to our fans and local businesses. I drew inspiration from the 2023 United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL) pocket schedule.

BREAKING DOWN THE POCKET SCHEDULE

STEP 1
I received two templates for a double-sided, four-page pocket schedule, totaling eight 2.313-inch pages. Each template includes three distinct markings that correspond to the bleed, trim, and safe zone. All background and artwork must extend to the bleed, while all text is encouraged to remain within the safe zone. The physical product will be cut at the trim line.
STEP 2
Cover the templates up to the trim line with a white rectangle. Divide each rectangle into four columns, incorporating the trim. Add the safe zone markings to indicate where text can be placed. Each page will now have its own path, allowing for content masking.
STEP 3
I have now added all my artwork, text, logos, and other elements to the template, ensuring that all content is masked to each page. Since much of my text is white, it may not be visually prominent at this stage. For each template, the pages are designated as follows:
Template #1: Roster - Ads/QR Codes - Back Page - Front Page
Template #2:  Schedule - League Teams - Seating & Ticket Pricing
This layout was developed in collaboration with the Motor City Rockers front office and staff.
STEP 4
In this final step, the hidden background and texture layers are turned back on, and the template layers are hidden. The pocket schedule is now complete and ready for production. What you see above is the version with bleed; this raw file will be sent to the printing company. The main pocket schedule images at the top of this page have been trimmed to exclude the bleed.
